PETER J. MANCUSO, RETIRED ATTORNEY

The Buffalo News (Buffalo, NY) December 19, 1995 A Mass of Christian Burial for retired attorney Peter J. Mancuso will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Eggertsville. Prayers will be said at 8:30 in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.

Mancuso, 81, died Sunday (Dec. 17, 1995) in his Amherst home.

A Buffalo native, he graduated from Canisius High School in 1932, Canisius College in 1936 and the University of Buffalo Law School in 1937. web site canisius high school

He had practiced law in Buffalo since 1938.

Mancuso was a research assistant of administrative law for the state Constitutional Convention of 1938, counsel to the state General Laws Legislative Committee in 1944-48 and counsel to the state Commission for Proposed Legislation.

He was appointed a trustee of the first board of the Erie County Library and was a trustee of the Governor’s Library Board in 1952-54. He also was a director of the Buffalo Library Board in 1954-56.

A member of the Erie County and New York State Bar associations, he was an assistant Erie County attorney in the late 1950s. He was senior attorney for the state Labor Relations Board in the late 1960s until retiring in 1976.

Mancuso was a member of the Justinian Legal Society, the Romulus Club and the state Catholic Championship basketball team of 1928-29 at Canisius High that participated in the national championships in Chicago. website canisius high school

Mancuso was recognized by the Center for Children for his work on behalf of children served by the organization. He was an emeritus member of Alpha Phi Delta Society at UB.

He was named to the Hall of Fame of Canisius High School, where he was selected notable athlete of the high school in 1932.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Angela P. Summo; a daughter, Sara C. Cechini of Eggertsville; two sons, Peter M. of Clarence and Joseph M.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
