TAX COMMISSIONER APPOINTS NEW DEPARTMENT OF PROPERTY TAX DIRECTOR

Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Katherine Sherrington has appointed Richard Steele as the new Director of her Property Tax Department. Mr. Steele brings with him over two years of managerial experience while serving in the Tax Commissioner’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Richard Steele began his professional career in May 1996 at the University of Georgia Campus Transit System, where he initially worked as a supervisor. Later, he became Operations Manager for the University’s system and held that position for over seven years. In mid-2004, Mr. Steele began working as a budget analyst for the Global AIDS Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. He was then hired by the Tax Commissioner in April 2005 as branch manager of the Snellville Tag Office. Later he was appointed Senior Branch Manager at the Tax Commissioner’s Lawrenceville Tag Office. Steele’s appointment was effective Oct. 9, 2007.
