Wedding invitation in play for ‘super-friendly’ Nomar.(News)
The Boston Herald October 7, 2001 | Fee, Gayle; Raposa, Laura Generally, when hitting on a guy – especially a hottie like Nomar Garciaparra – a good opening line is NOT inviting him to your wedding!
But that’s just what Monica Salipante, aka Maria of “Joey & Maria’s Comedy Wedding” fame, did when she ran into the Red Sox shortstud at Whiskey Park the other night.
Monica and the rest of the cast were at the Park Plaza Hotel hotspot – in full costume – for a party following their 10th anniversary show. Quick as you could say, “Here Comes the Bride,” Monica scoped out Nomie in a corner with his posse. go to web site essing wedding invitations
“I went over, shook hands and said hello,” Salipante said. “He was super-friendly.” Geez, most single guys would run scared at the sight of a woman in a wedding dress. But we digress. . . .
“He asked us what we were all about and I told him we were dinner theater,” Salipante said. “And he said he’d love to come and check us out sometime. I told him, ‘Anytime you want, you’re invited to my wedding.’ ” File Under: Chapel of Love?
Hard road for Driver Actress Minnie Driver, who struck out with Cambridge homey Matt Damon, is suffering more heartache after the bust-up of her engagement to actor Josh Brolin.
You may recall that Driver was quite miffed at Matt a few years back after he went on Oprah and spilled that they had parted ways. Minnie said that was news to her!
Apres Damon, Driver hooked up with Brolin, son of James, stepson of Barbra, and looked to be headed toward marital bliss. Until last week. That’s when Driver’s publicist announced that the wedding was off!
Word is, Driver became concerned over Brolin’s uncontrollable fits of jealousy. We hear the “Hollow Man” star became increasingly suspicious of Driver’s friendship with another actor’s offspring, New York club DJ Cameron Douglas, son of “Don’t Say a Word” star Michael Douglas.
Anyway, the couple is history. But, you know, Minnie, Matt’s still available.
